Black Lives Matter – Club Statement
Dear Fellow Meadonians,
Over the last few weeks we’ve been watching as the issue of racism has once again come to the forefront of society. We’ve been discussing as a committee what we should say and how we should say it, but at the end of the day we just need to say what we believe. Racism is deplorable, disgusting, unfair and human made. We recognise the systemic nature of racism in society but there can be no place for racism at Old Meadonians.
We stand for positivity, team work, respect and sensitivity to our fellow members. We hope to make a positive mark on society, both with the football we play and in the friendships we make. We try to get things right and we stand together with all those that fight for equality.
The original motto of Chiswick School was ‘Sempur Sursum’ which means ‘Always Aim High and we will continue aiming to be the best club in amateur football on and off the pitch. We will find new ways to make a positive change, to support our members and fight for the equality that everybody deserves.
As a club we want to be open and to listen and if any members wish to speak to us directly about any experiences they have had and discuss how we can be better moving forward please do get in touch.
None of this is easy but we must all try to make a difference in order to create a better society.
